OVERVIEW

Imagine you are planning your weekend hiking, but unsure where to start or what gear to bring. Xplorer is your go-to companion, an innovative outdoor clothing app that not only provides personalized gear recommendations but also curates adventure plans tailored just for you. With the AI Buddy feature, Xplorer learns your preferences and suggests the best gear and routes for your next adventure.

CHALLENGE

How can we engage the user to trust and rely on Xplorer's
AI Buddy feature, ensuring they feel confident and supported throughout their experience ?

We conducted User Survey via OptimalWorkshop with 45 users in total to get insights and better understanding how they feel about their current shopping experience and what process they go through when they plan an activity. 

Motivations

Would like gain more experience with gears

Willing to spend more on products that actually has functionality

Make decision on reviews and recommendations

Would like to be more prepared when do outdoor activities

Hard to find information from one source

Lack of motivation where to go and how to prepare

Traveling just to see the products

PROBLEM TO SOLVE

Frustrated adventure seekers need a complex, supportive solution, where they can make their plans in one place and find the right tools to make the best out of it.

IDEATE

Moodboard

Before diving into the visuals, we started with sketches and explored different ideas. After several collaborative sessions, we found common ground. I then created a moodboard, and from there, we moved on to High Fidelity Wireframes and prototypes.

USER JOURNEY

To simplify complexity I outlined the user journey with AI Assist into four distinct phases.

Now you can see there are plenty of ways your Buddy can assist you. After picking out a few pieces that seem perfect for your plans, you're eager to see them in action and try them on.

RESULT

You're starting to piece everything together and loving it! The exciting hiking plans with your friends, plus all the cool, functional gear you’ve got—it's all coming together. After that chilly rain, you're especially grateful your Buddy helped you pick the perfect outfit!

CURIOSITY

Imagine you’re getting ready for a hike but have no idea what to wear. You’re frustrated because you don't have the time or energy to drive to stores and spend hours shopping.
 

So, you open the Xplorer app and, with curiosity, tap on AI Assist. Your Buddy welcomes you and guides you through the next step.

HESITATION

This screen offers you two options to get the best result: you can either upload an image or use your camera. You're a bit hesitant since it's your first time using something like this, and you're not quite sure how it will be useful. But let's tap on the camera and see what happens next!

TESTING

I conducted user interviews to test our solution, focusing on uncovering pain points related to how users find products and navigate through categories. This feedback was crucial for making improvements.

PROTOTYPE

BUSINESS DASHBOARD

As part of my portfolio, I had the opportunity to design a comprehensive business dashboard. It serves as a central hub for monitoring key metrics, tracking user engagement, and gaining insights into the app's performance.

Maintaining consistency between the light and dark mode versions while ensuring readability

Interactive charts, graphs, and data widgets to present complex information in a clear and understandable manner

Provide real-time data visualization and analytics for the Xplorer app

TAKEAWAY

☝🏼The more users I interviewed, the more I understood that gathering as much feedback as possible is crucial. Every piece of feedback is valuable because we can’t always predict how users will interact with the final product

✌🏼You can’t design for everyone, so focus on your target users. Clearly defining who you're designing for early on and keeping that in mind throughout the process helps ensure your design decisions benefit the product in the long run. 

👌🏼 Research, research, research. Iterate, iterate, iterate. The design process is a journey of discovery.
